SOUTHcat (http://southcat.usouthal.edu/)
Additional statistical resources can be found on particular topics using SOUTHcat, the University
libraries' online catalog.
The "Simple Search" option allows you to choose a specific topic ("cancer" in the example below) and combine it with "statistics" using the Boolean operator "and." Substituting other related terms for statistics, such as "trends, " can also yield relevant results.
The "Fill-In Form Search" allows more detailed searches by specifying exactly where terms are searched. In the example below "aids" is searched as a keyword anywhere in the record while "statistics" is specifically searched for in the subject field.

INTERNET SOURCES
The following is a select list of health statistics information sources. Many more Internet resources, other than the ones listed, have statistical information. However, the following resources were selected and evaluated by a librarian for their content, currency, authority, and organization.
FEDSTATS    http://www.fedstats.gov
This site provides one-stop-shopping for federal statistics with access to more than 70 agencies in the U.S. federal government that produce statistics. The site can be searched by keyword or the topical A-Z list can be utilized.
National Center for Health Statistics    http://www.cdc.gov/nchswww
NCHS is the primary Federal organization responsible for the collection, analyses, and dissemination of health statistics. It is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The FASTATS from A-Z section provides a handy subject list of topics.
National Library of Medicine - Health Statistics Sources http://www.nlm.nih.gov/services/statistics.html
This excellent Web document offers select print and online bibliographies as well as searching tips for users seeking health-related statistical information.
Social Statistics Briefing Room - Health    http://www.whitehouse.gov/fsbr/health.html
Through the White House, the Social Statistics Briefing Room provides current Federal social statistics and links as maintained by a number of federal agencies. The statistics are touted as the most currently available to users.
University of Pittsburgh - Health Statistics Sources    http://www.hsls.pitt.edu/guides/students/nursing/internet.html
