There are many books and journals available in the University libraries on the topic of AIDS; all of these can be found using SOUTHcat (http://southcat.usouthal.edu/), the University libraries' online information system.

The Simple Search screen can be used to search for the topic as a keyword, title, title keyword or subject. Individual terms can be combined using Boolean operators such as "and" & "or."

The "Fill-In Form Search" allows more detailed searches by specifying exactly where terms are searched. In the example below "aids" is searched as a keyword anywhere in the record while "statistics" is specifically searched for in the subject field.

AIDS Clinical Trials Information Service (ACTIS) http://www.actis.org/ Information regarding federally and privately sponsored clinical trials for adults and children with AIDS and HIV infection sponsored by the CDC, NIAID, FDA, and NLM.

ATIS - The HIV/AIDS Treatment Information Service http://www.hivatis.org Information regarding federally approved treatment options for HIV and AIDS using a broad network of federal, national, and community based information resources sponsored by the CDC and NIAID.

The Body - An AIDS and HIV Information Resource http://www.thebody.com Daily updated information on AIDS including insight from experts and access to a 20,000 document library of news, demographics, statistics, and government resources.

CDC - National Center for HIV, STD, & TB Prevention http://www.cdc.gov/nchstp/hiv_aids/ Headlines, research, statistics, and links to HIV/AIDS information.

U.S. Census Bureau - HIV/AIDS Surveillance Data Base http://www.census.gov:80/ipc/www/hivaidsn.html Statistics on the AIDS pandemic and on HIV infection in population groups in developing countries.  The database is updated twice a year.

Family Practice Handbook - AIDS http://www.vh.org/Providers/ClinRef/FPHandbook/Chapter11/08-11.html University of Iowa Family Practice Handbook, Chapter 11: AIDS;  Doctors discuss diagnosis, treatment, etc. of a patient with HIV/AIDS and related illnesses.

JAMA - HIV/AIDS Information Center http://www.ama-assn.org/special/hiv/ Peer reviewed collection of published guidelines for prevention and management of HIV/AIDS and related conditions grouped by topic.

Johns Hopkins AIDS Service http://www.hopkins-aids.edu/ Up-to-date AIDS related information on medical education, resources, managed care, epidemiology, prevention, and treatment, as well as clinician forum and literary corner sections.

National Library of Medicine - AIDS databases http://gateway.nlm.nih.gov/gw/Cmd (NLM Gateway) AIDSDRUGS - Dictionary of chemical and biological agents currently being tested in AIDS related clinical trials. AIDSLINE -  Citations to literature covering research, clinical aspects and health policy issues (also available through OVID account). AIDSTRIALS (AIDS clinical trials) - Each record covers a single trial, and provides information such as title and purpose of the trial, diseases studied, patient eligibility criteria, contact persons, agents being tested, and trial locations. AIDS MEETINGS - meeting abstracts on AIDS/HIV (NLM Gateway only)
