Searching for a specific author

Authors are indexed in the MEDLINE database by last name, first initial, and second initial, if known. Use of author initials are taken directly from the cited article.

The most comprehensive way to search for an author is to use the last name and first initial followed by the truncation sign for the second initial. This will pick up the first initial and any other initial, as well as the absence of a second initial.

For example:

Type in the authors name and then either Click on Author   to see the alphabetical list of authors or use ".au." after the name to bypass the author list.

Note: If you do not use the AUTHOR Icon or the ".au.", the system will default to looking for your author as a subject term.
