AVOCADO |
||||||
| Ever make your own guacamole? If you have, then you know there's an art to picking out a ripe avocado - the skin texture, the feel, the color, etc. You don't just grab the first one you see. Just like a good piece of fruit, you don't necessarily use the first Web site you find, either. Website should first be carefully evaluated before using freely. When considerng a web site, here are seven, easy to remember criteria for juding it's relative worth and usefulness. |
| ACCURACY | Is author or sponsoring organization a recognized authority in the field? |
| Can the information given on the site be verified in other sources? | |
| Is the site free of errors? |
| VALUE | Is the site appropriate for your needs? |
| Does the site contain new or unique information? |
| ORGANIZATION | Is the site easy to navigate? |
| Is the site easy to read and visually appealing? | |
| Is there a search engine available to search the site's contents? | |
| Is the site user friendly? |
| COVERAGE | Does the site consist of part or an entirety of a work? |
| Is the site still under construction? | |
| What topics are included? | |
| Which topics are explored in depth? |
| DATE | How current is the information? |
| Is the date of the last site update listed on the page? |
| OBJECTIVITY | Is an overt bias evident? |
| Is it clear who is responsible for the material on the site? (Is it a .com, .gov or .edu sponsored site?) | |
| What is the puropose of the page? |
