SELECTION COMMITTEE

Here are the members of the Mobile Alabama Bowl selection committee who will be charged with selecting the teams that receive an invitation to participate in the game on Dec. 22. The group will invite the No. 2 pick from Conference USA and the No. 2 choice from the Western Athletic Conference.

Murray Cape, co-chairman: Founder of Springdale Travel; 33 years in travel agency business; treasurer of the Mobile Community Foundation; former president of the Rho Chi honor society at Auburn University; graduated with pharmacy degree from Auburn; remains licensed pharmacist.

Dr. Mike Ledet, co-chairman: Co-medical director of Southeast Regional Center for Sleep-Wake Disorders; assistant clinical professor with family practice, South Alabama College of Medicine; on board of directors for L'Arche; Family Practice Associates of Mobile.

Charles Holloway, co-chairman: Employed in administrative department at Bishop State Community College; former assistant athletic director at the University of South Alabama.

Chris Christina: Long-time employee of Delta Airlines; married to former Nancy Hager.

Judge Herman Thomas: Circuit Court Judge of 13th Judicial Circuit; recently appointed to the Circuit bench by Gov. Don Siegelman; native of Mobile; trustee member at South Alabama and Spring Hill College.

Donna Williams: Mobile native; member of Board of Pacemakers, a ministry to local pastors' wives; graduate of Mobile College and Vigor.

Mark Berson: Mobile native; graduate of UMS-Wright; owns Raphael's Women's Specialty Store; former President of Mobile Arts Council; board of directors of Mobile Sports Hall of Fame; member of executive commission of Mobile Sports Commission; board of trustees at UMS-Wright.

Al Stokes: Chief of Staff for Mayor Mike Dow; member of Senior Bowl committee; member of Move Mobile committee; serves on boards for Salvation Army, Homeless Coalition, Easter Seals and Mobile Community Action.

Mary Ann Robinson: Assistant professor of Behavioral Sciences at the University of South Alabama; earned Ph.D. from South Alabama.

Ken Kvalheim: Member of University of South Alabama Board of Trustees; employed by The Mitchell Company.

Dr. Albert Thomas: Practiced medicine in Mobile since 1963 as general surgeon; named Clinical Instructor of the Year at South Alabama in 1999; named Doctor of the Year at Franklin Clinic in 1993; graduate of Central High School and Meharry Medical College (1958).

Judge Lionel Layton: Retired state judge; program chairman for the Mobile bar Association; currently presides over mediation and arbitration cases; native of Los Angeles; University of Alabama graduate; played tennis at Alabama; member of Red Elephant Club.

Greg Crance: Former football player at Auburn University; president and CEO of Crance and Company, a full-service life and health agency; member of Alabama Cattleman's Association; member of American Society of CLU's.

Thomas Sullivan: Has taught for eight yea! rs in the Mobile County Public School System; member of the Mobile City Council, District 2.

Frank Modarelli: Native of Youngstown, Ohio; graduate of Youngstown State; Army veteran; works for Dynatherm, manufacturer of pharmaceutical shipping supplies.

Mercedes Jackson: Mobile resident for seven years; retired recreation director; National African-American Archives of Mobile member; New Orleans native; League of Women Voters member.

Bobby Petro: Native of Hattiesburg, Miss.; graduate of University of Southern Mississippi; owns his own CPA firm.
