Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery: Information, Forms etc.

  NEW!!!DESKTOP DOCUMENT DELIVERY

Charles M. Baugh Biomedical Library Document Delivery/Interlibrary Loan department is asking for your participation in developing a new document delivery method.

Using the Prospero software, scanned documents are  placed on our server as PDF files. You, the patron, will receive an e-mail message with a pin number and the URL to access your document.  Accessing our server from your office, home or anywhere, you will download the document using Adobe Acrobat and print it.

Improved technology has enhanced document delivery between libraries. We are now extending this to your desktop. Fast, convenient document delivery and high quality are our goals.

Before we make our new service official, we would like to have a trial period to identify and fix any glitches in the process. If you are interested in desktop delivery, please contact the Document Delivery/Interlibrary Loan department at 251-460-6891 or e-mail ill@bbl.usouthal.edu

Interlibrary Loan

The Biomedical Library will obtain materials not available in the USA collections through Interlibrary Loan. Forms are available at the Biomedical Library or, from this page, electronically. Please complete one form for each item. If your reference has been obtained from an OVID, PubMed or Internet Grateful Med search, please be sure to include the NLM Unique Identifier.

Interlibrary Loan requests are normally placed within 24 hours. The Biomedial Library is a Resource Library in the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, and participates in national and global interlibrary loan systems. A journal article normally takes 7-10 working days, a book may take a little longer. If you have a clinical medical emergency, make sure the library staff person you contact knows that, or that you note it on your request, so we can expedite your request appropriately. Generally, "Not needed after" is a good way to inform the library staff about your time frame. Requests may be phoned (251-460-6891) or faxed (251-460-7638) to the Library. You will be notified when your item arrives.

The Biomedical Library abides by the copyright law (Title 17, U.S.Code) and reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgement, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of the copyright law. Please read and sign the copyright warning on the "BIOMEDICAL LIBRARY Item Request".

The Biomedical Library offers Loansome Doc service. Note that you must obtain a user code and id from NLM and establish an agreement with the Library prior to using this service. Please contact the Interlibrary Loan department for further information.

Photocopy Service

The Biomedical Library will pull and copy materials from its collections for a fee.
