USAOnline Students: Electronic Resources

Service
The University of South Alabama Biomedical Library is committed to extending the same services and resources to its online students as it does to its local users. In order to accomplish this we have created a series of web pages designed to help online students to effectively access and use the library's many resources.
Online Resources
Most of the resources the library has to offer are available to online students. Only in a few instances will you find a database or e-journal that is only available to students on campus. If this is the case please contact us at the reference desk (phone: 251/460-7044 email: medlib@bbl.usouthal.edu) or live chat and we will try to assist you.
Access & Descriptions
For an overview and portal to the Biomedical Library's online resources start with the Electronic Databases and Resources page: [http://southmed.usouthal.edu/library/resources/index.htm]
This page contains a list of the library's primary databases, as well as a description and tips on how to use them.
Log-In Information
When you attempt to access many of these resources a box should appear asking for your last name and the last four digits of your social security number. After filling in this information you should be taken directly into the database you chose. If the box does not appear or you have trouble loggin in you may want to check this troubleshooting page. If you are still unable to access the USA databases you should contact us right away.
Access Problems
If you have a problem accessing these resources then click here for trouble shooting tips. If you continue to have problems please call us (251/460-7044) or send us an emal: medlib@bbl.usouthal.edu
Options
As USA students you have full access to all of our libraries' resources, and there are many other useful online databases (many with full-text) that can be accessed from the University Library web site. Additionally there are many reputable web sites that are free to access on the world wide web, particularly PubMed and the NLM Gateway, both of which are hosted by the National Library of Medicine.
