Introduction

  Understanding all the in's and out's of copyright can be a difficult process. However, as both owner's and user's of copyrighted information, it is important to make sure that we at least understand the basics. Just what is and is not copyright protected? Are email messages copyright protected? If there is no copyright notice evident, does that mean it is not copyright protected? What is considered fair use of copyright protected material? These are just a few of the questions that could arise as you are copying a journal article, modifying an image for your web site, or preparing teaching materials. As copyright law continues to evolve and change, sometimes the answers to these questions are not always as definite as we would like. This web site will attempt to provide information on copyright that is clear and understandable. |
