The graduate program in the Department of Cell Biology and
Neuroscience is designed to develop creative independent scientists for
research careers in academia and corporate biotechnology. Students
receive a Ph.D. degree with an emphasis on cell biology. The program
encompasses coursework covering the fundamentals of structural, cellular
and molecular biology and advanced laboratory training in a specialized
area. All courses are available in the College of Medicine. The expected
time for completion of the Ph.D. program is four to five years.
Students enrolled in the program have an option of additional studies
to prepare for teaching career in traditional anatomy disciplines.
