| The Task Force on Research Organization and Performance Evaluation
(ROPE) has critically evaluated the
research portfolio of the University of South Alabama College of Medicine (COM). We have utilized the "balanced scorecard approach as a tool to focus our analysis from several perspectives: financial, customer (considered to be faculty, administration, trainees, accrediting bodies, and granting agencies), and internal business. Current data have been compared to historical data for the college as well as to national and regional benchmarks. Based on our observations, we made recommendations regarding target areas for learning and growth. Together, these recommendations form a strategy which we believe will allow the COM to make major advances in our research program. |
