Animal Care and Use Training Information:
The USA animal training program consists of a CORE program via the online module "Working With the IACUC" and series of videotape training programs and/or autotutorial slide presentations which are organized by laboratory animal species. Faculty, staff and students working with animals are required to complete the CORE program and view the species-specific training tapes with which you will be working. Additionally, the Department of Comparative Medicine (DCM) offers 'one-on-one' training sessions with DCM veterinary staff or supervisors, handout materials, and specializied training seminars throughout the year. Faculty and staff using animals in research will be notified of the availability of such programs. Faculty and staff who use animals in research may view the appropriate/required materials at the Biomedical Library at their convenience. However, the training program should be completed within 6 months of being employed. Training materials are housed in the IACUC Office, CSAB 134.
