Both adherent, and non-adherent, cells may be assayed in the Cytosensor.

In the case of adherent cells, these are grown overnight in capsule cups at approximately 300,000 cells per cup. Cells are
allowed to grow and attach in their usual growing media. Special low-buffer media is used for the actual experiment. Capsule
cups may be bought from scientific supply companies or from the Research Cytometry Laboratory at cost.

Low-buffer media is available commercially or from the RCL (MDC, Molecular Devices Corp):

Non-adherent cells are placed in an agarose medium at a concentration of approximately 100,000 cells per capsule cup.
