General Lab Information - Image Analysis

Instrumentation:

The laboratory houses two confocal laser scanning microscopes,

as well as a standard fluorescence microscope,  and a stereo zoom dissecting microscope

Leica TCS SP2 is a three-laser (argon, green HeNe, red HeNe), galvo-driven instrument with the following capabilities:
-    Three-color fluorescence
-    Five laser lines (457, 488, 514, 543, and 633 nm)
-    Confocal Z-scanning
-    Overlaying of fluorescence and Nomarski (or transmitted light) images
-    Full-field fluorescence viewable through microscope occulars (useful in rare-cell fluorescence)
-    Three-D reconstruction of confocal Z-slices
-    Dry, oil, and immersion objectives

Meridian Instruments ACAS 570 is a single-laser (argon), stage-scanning instrument with the following capabilities:
-    Three laser lines (UV, 488, and 514 nm)
-    Two, fluorescence PMTs

Olympus BX50 fluorescence microscope is equipped with an Optronics CCD camera coupled to a Mac
333MHz PowerPC with Scion G7 framegrabber, Scion Image for image capture, and a 20-inch
ColorSync monitor.  The printer is QMS Magicolor 2X.  Images can also be saved in TIFF format and
processed in PhotoShop or an equivalent software package.

Olympus SZX12 has a zoom range of 12.86:1 and can be used with either transmitted or fluorescence
excitation light.
